THE NIGHT OF DESTINY

The Night of Destiny

An exhibition by Saudi artist Raghad Al-Ahmad.

At Sharjah’s 1971-Design Space until April 15 is an exhibition by experimental Saudi artist and designer Raghad Al-Ahmad. Opened as part of the 25th Sharjah Islamic Arts Festival, the exhibition expresses the artist’s personal journey through the manifestation of sorrow and the profound spiritual awareness that occurs on the Night of Destiny (the night, celebrated towards the end of Ramadan, when the first verses of the Quran were revealed to the Prophet Muhammad). Al-Ahmad blends the influence of Islamic teachings with the words of her grandmother, creating a bridge between traditional Islamic philosophy and modern artistic expression. Rooted in the heritage of Islamic design, the exhibition invites visitors to seek healing through their own experience of prayer.
