The brainchild of Sheikha Hoor Al Qasimi, daughter of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, the Ruler of Sharjah, Fen Café & Restaurant first opened its doors in 2016 at the Sharjah Art Foundation (where Sheikha Hoor is President and Director). A coveted foodie destination from its inception, over the last four years the homegrown concept has opened three more locations throughout the emirate—at the Rain Room, in Kalba, and most recently at Zero 6 Mall.

Opened in January, the latest Fen iteration is as chic and contemporary as its predecessors. The kitchen is led by the Fen brand’s head chef, Marco Padre, and at Zero 6 Mall features an open counter where guests can see the team busily preparing the tempting creations.

Natural light floods the modern and minimal space thanks to the floor-to-ceiling windows, which offer panoramic views of University City on one side. Striking pink chairs pop out from the cool interior, which for the most part features a muted colour palette of charcoal grey, white and wood, alongside little flashes of brass. There are ample seating options for small and large groups, including a bar counter complete with charging stations for your devices and front-row seats to the food-making action.

The menu is inspired by Japanese and Asian cuisine, alongside other influences. Fen offers the unique opportunity to indulge in fine cuisine at attractive prices in an inspiring setting. There are opulent dishes to indulge in should your appetite (and wallet) be tempted. You can just as easily enjoy Eggs Your Way for breakfast starting at AED35 or opt for 30g of Rova Caviar for AED199. Beyond the first meal of the day (which, incidentally, is served until 5pm here), the menu offers a tempting array of soups, salads, starters, main courses, burgers and sandwiches, sides and desserts. Vegetarians are well catered to, and there are gluten-free, dairy-free and vegan-friendly options to choose from, too.
